Lutheran World Relief Quilters
Lutheran World Relief (LWR) is a non-governmental organization founded in 1945 to respond to the needs of communities devastated by World War II. Headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland, LWR works to reduce poverty and injustice by helping communities increase and expand the resources they need to live productive, healthy and empowered lives. Members of Faith Lutheran Church actively support the work of Lutheran World Relief through financial contributions and through the sharing of their time and talents. One dedicated group of members is our “Faithful Quilters” group that meets most Wednesdays from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM to sew quilts for LWR’s “Project Comfort.”
Every year, countless Lutheran groups and individuals join their hearts and hands in sewing quilts and assembling layettes and health, school and sewing kits to be distributed to people in need by Lutheran World Relief. Through their love and commitment to these projects, they turn ordinary items into tangible symbols of extraordinary love for people who may feel they’ve been forgotten by the world.
