CCSC
The Christian Community Service Center (CCSC) is an award-winning, community-based, nonprofit organization that serves the needs of the inner-city, southwest Houston community. The mission of the Christian Community Service Center is to serve the poor, hungry, disabled and otherwise needy while respecting their religious, ethnic and cultural differences. CCSC was created out of faith, and founded in the belief that we are all called to help all God’s children heart-to-heart and hand-to-hand. CCSC was incorporated in 1980 and since that time has grown to encompass a coalition of 43 local churches united in service, including Faith Lutheran Church.
Faith Lutheran Church members actively support the mission of CCSC by contributing financially and donating generously to a variety of food, clothing and special needs drives that are held throughout the year. Faith Lutheran Church serves as the host site for CCSC’s large and popular “Back-to-School” event. The annual Back-to-School event, which is held in our Faith Center gymnasium, provides school supplies, school uniforms, shoes and gently worn clothing to over 6,000 underprivileged children and their families every August. Each year, Faith Lutheran Church members also lovingly make beautiful doll cradles and quilts to be distributed at CCSC’s annual “Jingle Bell Express” along with many other toys, books and monetary donations.
Many of our church members also volunteer regularly at CCSC Emergency Services Southwest (Food Pantry), and the Sunshine Resale Shop. For more information about the vital and life-changing services provided by the Christian Community Service Center, please visit www.ccschouston.org.
