CHILDREN IN WORSHIP

Children of all ages are welcomed and encouraged to attend Sunday morning worship services with their parents or caregivers. Special worship bags that contain quiet activities for children to use during the worship services are available as you enter the church sanctuary. The Faith Fun Zone is available for children who need more space to move around throughout the services on Sunday morning. The services are streamed on a television in the Faith Fun Zone so parents can watch worship while their children play. There is also a “cry room” located near the back of the sanctuary for parents who need a quiet space for their young children.

There is also a dedicated space for children seven and under at the back of the sanctuary called the “prayground.” This space allows children space to move around and engage in age-appropriate activities while still being present for worship.

First Communion

First Communion

When a child is ready to come forward to the Lord’s table, hold out his/her hands, say “Amen” and receive Holy Communion in a reverent way (no silliness or goofiness that is disrespectful of others at the table), then they and their parents are ready to come to a First Communion Workshop. We offer these on Sunday afternoons, two times per year. Pastor Marvin and Pastor Tan will teach parents, and the Children’s Ministry Coordinator teaches the children. The children will begin receiving Holy Communion the next time they are in worship.

Milestone Ministries

Milestone Ministries are a way for us to celebrate the promises made in baptism, provide learning opportunities for families, and recommit ourselves as a congregation to nurture one another as the body of Christ as we mark “milestones” in a person’s journey of faith. The first milestone is baptism. Throughout a child’s growing years, we recognize and celebrate new milestones through parent/child classes, small gifts, and observances during worship services. Some of the milestones we recognize include Las Presentaciones (three year old blessing), First Communion, Bible Discovery (3rd grade), Confirmation (middle school), and High School Graduation.
