Numerous members of Faith share their time and talents by serving on church boards, which are the “backbone” of the church. Board co-chairs serve for two-year elected terms and appointed members serve as volunteers to accomplish the vital work and mission of each board.
The members of our Hospitality Board provide hospitality, food, and coffee every Sunday and for all special meetings and events throughout the year including fellowship following Advent and Lenten Wednesday worship services, funerals, potlucks, and the annual church picnic. They also organize off-campus activities including an annual outing to Minute Maid Park every July for “Lutheran Day at the Astros”.
The Faith Day School Board oversees the activities of the Day School and Mother’s Day Out programs for Faith Lutheran Church.
The ministry of the Community Life Board is to welcome all people to Faith Lutheran Church with a spirit of enthusiasm for the Good News of Jesus Christ. The board is primarily responsible for reaching out to the community, to guests and visitors to the church, and to all who may be looking for a church home. The board organizes outreach events and Guest Information sessions throughout the year.
This dedicated group of people plays a vital role in the spiritual growth of everyone in the church from tots to seniors! They share their time and talents as Sunday School teachers and administrators. Several of our teachers have been helping children learn about Jesus and his love for over 20 years. New teachers are sometimes hesitant to teach, but soon discover that they are pleasantly surprised at how much they learn themselves from sharing God’s word.
Our dedicated Property Board members oversee all property and building maintenance issues including air conditioning/heat, plumbing, repairs, roof, ceiling, flooring, paint, and changing lots and lots of light bulbs!
The Social Ministry board oversees the many service projects of Faith Lutheran Church including quarterly blood drives, the Souper Bowl of Caring, offerings and requests for emergency food and special needs drives, computer recycling for “Techs and Trainers”, Krause Center, NAMI Walk, and support of CCSC’s annual Back-to-School and Jingle Bell Express events.
The Board of Stewardship organizes the church’s annual Celebration Sunday and provides financial contributions to the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast Synod, ELCA, Lutherhill, TLU Scholarship Fund, and the Samaritan Center.
The Board of Worship is responsible for organizing and implementing the worship calendar of the church and overseeing physical enhancements to the décor of the sanctuary. It takes many volunteers to organize the various worship services throughout the church year.
Youth and Family
The Youth and Family Board helps direct and guide the multitude of programs offered for children, youth and their families including Milestone Ministries, Confirmation, Faith Camp and other camps, retreats and missions, Sunday Night Live and Faith Families.
